Tools of the Trade – Rich Brooks

Rich Brooks shares his favorite Tools of the Trade with us today! Rich Brooks is owner of Flyte New Media who’s specialty is internet marketing. Rich writes a Flyte Blog about web marketing for small businesses. Rich is also a widely read blogger at MaineToday.com as well as the “tech expert” on 207, an evening news program on WCSH-6 (NBC).  I think you’ll find Rich’s list to be full of many of your own favorite tools.

And here are his 5 favorite tools….

1) Google Analytics

Google Analytics

How can you possibly know how successful your Web site or Internet marketing campaigns are unless you measure them. This would be a steal at a few hundred dollars a month, but it’s free! Free I tell you, free!

2) Twitter

Twitter

Currently my favorite social media application. I’ve made such great connections, learned so much, built flyte’s brand and generated business, all with this “swiss army knife of online communications.”

3) WordPress

Wordpress

Although the flyte blog is on TypePad (another great blogging tool), my heart now belongs to WordPress. Flexible, scalable, search engine friendly, doubles as a content management system, the list goes on. It’s very deserving of a Shakespearian sonnet.

4) Skype

Skype

Thank you, Skype, for making calls to Alaska so cheap. And for letting us pretend that life is an episode of the Jetsons as a videochat with friends around the globe. And for making interoffice IM’ing so easy. And for that wonderful, happy chime you sing every time I turn you on.

5) Glance.net

Glance

Not only is this an affordable Webinar tool, it’s a great tool to let our clients “look over our shoulders” virtually if they need to explain how they want something organized on their page. It also help cut down global warming. How? We can do training over the Web which means less travel time for flyte and our clients.

Got something to say? Go for it!
