Tools of the Trade – Christopher Powell

Chris Powell is a web designer, blogger, and NFL football fanatic from the Canadian prairies, specifically Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He has been designing for the past 4 years, and has loved every minute of it. You can find Chris here, and also check out his portfolio here. Chris also runs two blogs, one about design and another about the NFL.  Ready?  Here we go…

Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator

Photoshop
I am of the mindset that you use the best tool for the job, and there is nothing better for web (and print) graphics than Photoshop and Illustrator.

WordPress

A designers best friend. Not only is it a awesome blogging platform, it rocks as a CMS as well.
Wordpress

Clicky

Clicky
For most of my clients Google Analytics is too much, and confuses them, so I use Clicky instead which gives them a very easy to use dashboard that allows them to see the “important” info immediately.

Smart Invoice

Wordpress
The best invoicing application that I have used. Makes accounting a little easier.

Destroy Twitter

Wordpress
My favorite Twitter app by far. It’s small but robust, and lets me keep up with everything going on on Twitter (which is my #6 for it’s awesome networking platform), and since DestroyTwitter is an AIR app it works on Windows/Linux/Mac.

If you want to know if an image has been altered or real, try this site: http://www.pskiller.com/. They analyze images and look at the statistical models in the image to determine if the image has been altered or not. It works on a bunch of image file formats including JPEG, PNG, TIFF and so on.

Got something to say? Go for it!
