When perusing the Internet for web-hosting companies, you can easily get lost in the sea of different providers. Especially, if you’re not a tech-savvy person and don’t know the difference between a Virtual Private Network (VPN) and Domain Name System (DNS).
Building a great website is not easy, but finding reliable web hosting isn’t a big problem thanks to the following web hosting companies:
One of the best all-around website hosts available is Just Host (www.justhost.com). Their name says it all ‘Just Host’, and they couldn’t be more spot on. They’re one of the only companies to give businesses or individuals a free domain name for life when choosing their hosting. This means no more messy renewal fees or schedules to worry about. It’s easy. Pick your name; choose the hosting package that meets your budget and just host.
Sometimes, when choosing cheap web hosting you have to go on name value alone. An unusual or witty name can often be a great find such as FatCow Hosting (www.fatcow.com). The feature-laden packages will make your wallet happy. FatCow has a huge amount of unlimited features that aren’t included with other hosts. Need an online store fast and easy? If price is not your main factor in choosing reliable web hosting, the stability should be. The arrival of Arvixe Hosting (www.arvixe.com) is reliable for both business and individual use. The support for VPS and dedicated hosting are important considerations in business hosting. You get a lot for your money, such as unlimited disk space and bandwidth. The inclusion of shared SSL is a nice touch for e-commerce enabled websites. Normal hosts charge heavy fees for a dedicated IP address, but it can be included with Arvixe for only $2 each month. It’s a fantastic business hosting company.

I use Site5. I believe them to be one of the best hosts. They are really well priced, have just about every feature under the sun, including support for ruby and python and the support is first class.
As a web developer I have the unfortunate job of liasing with a lot of different hosts. Many have shoddy support, one took 3 days to reply to a support request and didn’t even reference the question in their answer..
If you are looking for PHP hosting I would look at http://site5.com and http://www.collisionhosting.com/. I know the people who run the latter and they will make sure you never have a problem.
If you are looking for Microsoft hosting then I would recommend http://www.blacknight.com/. I have had many dealings with them and they are very professional indeed.
Having great luck with HostGator for the last year or so. But, I’ve learned over the last decade that hosts come and go, no matter the size. The quality of service may go down the tubes at any time. GoDaddy (believe it or not) was actually pretty good at one time.
I use 1and1 – I know there’s a lot of bad press about them, but I have been with them for almost 5 years and have found their service to be excellent. I have 2 shared hosting accounts and a dedicated server, I have had a handfull of problems in 5 years but they have always been quickly resolved.
I just moved over to Bluehost and have been really happy with them, only $5/month for shared hosting. It’s better than the $20/month I’m paying with Mediatemple despite Mediatemple’s slick design.
