Hi Mike,

Curious though on the ease of editing the CSS in a YUI setup. Isn't it all Yahoo compressed with all of the white-space stripped out etc., making it nearly impossible to decipher or edit?

Thanks for the link Paul, I'll have to take a look at that. There are some other grids out there as well such as 960grid (as mentioned I believe in one of Jack's articles) and blueprint being some of the more popular ones. For a list of some other ones, this is a pretty good reference.

I'd love to get stuck into the YUI framework as I can certainly see the benefits in build and design speed. But what stops me is time it takes to really get to grips with it. This article should help with that so thanks.

In the meantime, anyone who is interested in getting into css frameworks but is a little daunted by the scale of them, try the 1kb Grid, I found it's a good way to get started with css grids.

Just wanted to comment that I found out a little more about why YUI2's grid system being deprecated in YUI3. http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/yui3/message/726. Based on what I've read there, YUI2's version (which is what this tutorial is based on) was developed with the older browsers in mind. With the fall of some of the older browsers off the A-Grade list, Yahoo is taking the opportunity to restructure and rethink it to make it even better for the next release. It may even fix the issue with CSS validation. We'll have to wait and see!

I've been using YUI Grids for a while now and think that your tutorial was great, especially for someone starting out.
