Jam up post Jack. I've been enjoying reading your work here. Kuler is a great resource but I really like to use Colour Lovers. It's got some really amazing color schemes already picked out for you.

I think checking out the competition is a really important step that a lot of people miss. I try and do that as much as possible.

Thanks!

Just the information I've been looking for. Thanks very much.
I'm a new web designer and am not sure how or what to show client.
Also, how much to give away in the mock up. I've heard stories of
designers who launch a mockup that is rejected by client yet
later they find that the client used the mockup, but different designer.

Which reminds me?
do you know of a way to put a "preview" or "sample" watermark
all over a mockup site? I know how to put it in the background,
but the images and modules, etc, are not included.
I'd love to find a watermark that will go over everything on the mockup.

any ideas?

I like this article a lot and will start incorporating these techniques into my own work.

Nice post.

It seems that this process is becoming a lot more popular..Another excellent article on this sort of process can be found here: http://24ways.org/2009/make-your-mockup-in-markup.
