I'm after a simple bit of code! Basically, my movie has 20 frames. When it reaches frame 10, I want it to randomly jump to any frame between 11 and 20 and stop. Hopefully this should be easy enough!

Creating A Global Mute Button?

I have a container Flash movie that loads in other swf files. Some of these have videos, sounds etc loaded in different ways from simply embedded to sound objects etc.

However what I need to add to the "holder" movie is a mute button that works across the board - ie it just puts the volume to 0, but doesn't stop anything. I will also of course need "unmute" capability.

I can't find anything helpful online. stopAllSounds doesn't work, and I can't use setVolume as it's not for specific objects. Surely there must just be a "global" volume functionality?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Great Book For Css Beginners..

Hey everyone,
I was looking at all the post and decided to put up how I learned my ground in CSS. I went to Barnes and Noble and bought a book called CSS Web Site Design associated with lynda.com. It was a great book with great tutorials and video and everything you need to get started. And with the web squeeze and the tutorials on here I got on my way to learn css. Its fairly easy to learn if you know html but I didn't so I had to stop and learn more of html. ha. But now im on my way to bigger and better css. But ya. Any other books, videos, tutorials anyone else has found to be a good help?

Implement Wordpress Into Small Site

Some of you may have checked out my current site already. What i wanted to do is create an easy way for the client to edit and chance some of the pages etc.

After looking at a few CMS's i finally admitted to myself that the easiest one for someone with no web knowledge to use would be wordpress.

Here's the hard part, bearing in mind that i am in no way an expert, how easy would it be to have a wordpress powered editable section of the site. I would not want to change the look and layout of the site, how would i go about doing this.

Would i work wordpress into my current design, or work my current design into wordpress?

I know there is a few forum owners on here, so I thought I would harp on about a bit of software that has made my life a lot easier. As you know, when the forum software creators release a new update, the first thought that comes to your head is "ZOMG NOOO MOAR TEMPLATE EDITZ RLY? YA RLY!!1111 SRSLY NOOOOOOO WAIIIIIIIII" and then you sit there staring at the screen when it tells you that you have lots of out of date templates. FEAR NOT! WinMerge is here!!!!! WinMerge is an excellent freeware tool that allows you to compare numerous bits of code and it will highlight the differences between them then is all you have to do, is select the changes and press "Move Left/Right". This especially became handy for me when vBulletin started to use "Security Tokens", as many people were complaining they were spending days going through every template looking for the sections that needed tokens. It took me 1hr 30 mins to go through every single file

Hopefully someone will be able to help me out here lol.

After a bit of thinking, i knew that i wanted to do something after getting to grips with HTML n CSS.

I thought about graphics and also coding/development, but really wanted a combination of them both so thought I'd start to learn flash/actionscript.

Here's where i need advice though lol.

Is there anything i should know or have experience with before i start, should i know the basics of anything before-hand?

Also how exactly is actionscript used, really don't know too much about it

A while back I was considering a football blog and I still am, but now I'm thinking of doing it on the Championship, as there are much less sites specifically aimed at the Championship, as it is a lower tier than the Premiership.

I reckon that daily updates would be possible and that it could really take off.

But I'm not always around so I would like 3-4 others who enjoy football & writing to update with me as a team.

Would anyone be interested? Yes, it would be hard work, but if we can update daily with indepth news reports, it can really work, and after a few weeks hopefully the comments might start to flow.

It would run on WordPress, I would find a theme then modify it to suit the needs.

I was thinking of calling it 'The Championship' but I'm not sure.

I would pay all the costs of hosting, so don't worry about that :D

Forum Css Or Something In A Css File Is Causing....

Okay,

Well, At first my website's navigation menu when shifting up and down when switching from a one of the pages to the forum. Well, i have fixed that and now when going into the forum page it shifts over left. Call me stupid btu I totally forgot which file i was editing at the time and don't remember what i edited to fix the forum with the navigation. Anyhow, I think it has somethign to do with the margin/padding on the forum. I can't find it, but maybe someone can?

Placing A Img Element Below A Text Input Element

I'm trying to get a text input element to have an inner glow (or maybe outerglow). I want the effect to be scalable so I'm using an image element underneath the text element rather than giving the input a background-image. Problem is, the image overlays the text element (so you can't click in the text element) rather than underlaying it.

Webcam Script

Ok i have spent hours setting up a live webcam for a guy. I have got it onto the WAN and viewable from any PC. The main problem is i want to embbed into a webpage as its currently using its on firmware and the interface is disgusting!

The IP is

as you can see its only viewable on internet explorer this isnt a major problem but if there is a script that will make it viewable on all browsers that would be a bonus.

Basically i just want to be able to take each individual camera out and plant them onto seperate pages. ive tried a few things but im now stuck.

Im using an IP server with normal cameras! (not ip cameras)

This seems to be a common question but no one has any answers!!

any help would be much appreciated

Content Shifts Below Other Content In Ie6

Hey,

I'm having a problem in IE6 for example on the following page:

It happens on each category productlist page (categories are shown on left side).
The last product is shown wrong. The image shifts below the content. In some other categories, there is also a description viewable when you click "toon meer productinfo". If you do that, that description is below the content, and the image is correct. Somehow, always the last div in the last product info shifts below the parent div (#mainContentTeksten).

I was kinda hoping someone would notice a mistake. I've tried all kinds of things, f.e. removing floats, adding breaks with "clear:both", trying to put the entire thing in a 2 columned table, changing the width of the divs, the size of the short descriptions, but it doesn't fix it. Am i missing something?

Heya

I've been using Cute FTP Pro for what seems like an eternity now. However, I'm starting having problems with files saying they've been over-written, but the old ones still show up on the web. Cache cleared, temp internet files deleted etc. - the usual stuff, but still no joy for some pages. I've contacted Globalscape's forum, but no-one's replied yet.

Can anyone recommend a different client until they get back to me with an answer? Or even suggest which settings I could tweak? I do have it on 'Prompt' when it overwrites - just in case I do try to upload an incorrect file!

Display Issues

Heya

It's me back with yet another problem. I'm not sure if it's an XHTML prob or CSS, but I thought I'd post it here.

The following page displays how it 'should' in IE, but when viewed with FF, when you click through the links on the left menu, some of the pages slightly shift to the left. I've been staring at this for ages, and basically I can't see the wood for the trees. Please can someone help me out again??

I think it might have something to do with the amount of 'stuff' on the page. I know that sounds nuts, but the ones with more information ton the page, then those are the ones that appear to shift - however, the ones that shift, all line up. Aware that I'm sounding slightly crazy, but if you follow the links, you'll see what I mean (I hope).

(I've validated the XHTML and my CSS and they came back without errors. So... apparently I'm doing something right! hehe)

Seamless Background Pattern

I'm currently redesigning my website and I came across the problem of creating a seamless background in the header. I solved it eventually. Just wanted to let you guys know the answer in case anybody else has this problem.

I have a header that has a repeating pattern as background. The header also contains an image that sits centrally aligned on the page. Sounds easy, so I just did the following

The header image continues the background pattern. The transition between the two should be seamless. But as you can see here it doesn't really work. When you change the width of the browser window the header image slides across the background.

After a bit of searching on the web I finally found this very simple solution. By simply setting the horizontal background position to center, one can align the background with the centralised header image.

4templates

I need to do another website but I'm not a designer. Not the kind that produces good designs when asked at least :) I was thinking 4templates for a template and then add own logo and some pictures to make it at least a bit unique. The prices are so low that it just might be worth it and the designs are looking awesome (most of them). I haven't seen much of those designs used so it's not like you see the same design every day. And I don't think it should be a problem even if you did. Look at all those blog designs which are recycled over and over again.

Does anyone have any user experience with this kind of services? I'm a bit concerned that does the xhtml/css code allow customization or has it done so that you cannot easily edit it. Any comments?
