I have 2 hosts

1 and 1 - I choose these because I love terrible service (30min+ on hold to get put through some crappy line to India which randomly dies every few minutes), random downtime, limited SQL databases and so on. I only stay because the site transfer process is going to be hideously complicated.

Site5 - Awesome web host. Cheap, tonnes of features. Joy to use.

I have few hosts for my projects. My personal website is at webhost4life since they had a good asp.net/ms sql server plan. My other hosts are local finnish hosters.

Craigboy, you should definately consider site5 for .com websites. Avoid 1and1 like the plague. I have heard good things about hostgator as well but haven't personally tried them.

No your pain with Heart Internet.

By the sounds of it there team is two people in Nottingham. And their Xpanel is absolutely ridiculous. I had troubles connecting Dreamweaver to it for ages. And FTP accounts were crap

I moved here. Great service, and guys there are really helpful. Beyond the hosting point.

WESH UK

I will warn you that moving from heart will be difficult! Make sure your domain is more then 60 days old. Then go onto the Xpanel and change name servers and send them your epp code then it should go through a treat... Unless heart refuse to release your domain like they did me for 2 months!

That's why I decided to get the domain elsewhere than the hosting. Doing that I can change hosting whenever I want and with ease. Ofcourse this doesn't help you now but for the future consider doing that.

I have Advanced Microsoft plan from WebHost4Life and that is $9.95 / month. Considering the current exchange rate from USD to EUR, it's pretty cheap for me. My other hosting plans which are from Finland vary from 20EUR to about 70EUR / year including a domain name. I host 2 sites with my WebHost4Life account (both currently empty).

I personally recommend any of the following companies...

The Planet - Largest data center in the world, great support, and overall good prices for dedicated servers.
Site5 - Great for the average website designer, great reseller plans as well! Site5 has great support, but it's only via their support center and email. So that means you don't get to talk to any humans!
HostGator - Another great company with GREAT support over the phone that's FREE!
The NYNOC - A great company for VPN's.

Thanks,

I am also with BluePhyre ... my hosting company (decent support, sales and billing is slow as molasses however) on_the_quiet.gif

BluePhyre resides, primarily, with The Planet.
