Hi,
Can I get some opinions on the navigation for a site I'm creating? My concerns are... Is it spaced properly? Does the selected state fit in? If not, opinions please. Thanks for looking. Here it is... |

Looks good IMO
i would have it aligned left it it were my site, but that's just personal preference lol One thing i would change is the current page highlighting, it looks out of place with the rest of the site at the moment -------------------- |

Hey 902,
Looking good. Here are my suggestions for the navigation... 1. More space. You have the room, so don't be afraid to use it. Let it breathe. 2. Contrast. Try making the background behind the text a little darker so that the text itself is a bit easier to read. I would also make the rollover color darker as well. Remember, your navigation has to be just as functional as it is good looking, if not more so. 3. Sections. I like that you highlight the text to illustrate which section you are in. I would suggest changing the background color of the block the text is in as well to further reinforce that. Again, love the style overall. Rich -------------------- |

The footer really doesn't seem to match the site. Its as if the site is flat and roles over the footer. I'd suggest some sorta of border for the page contents.
3/5 - I love the site and background. However just like rewake said, you have lots of space, let the page flow and breathe! -------------------- We are sorry but complaint.hell is not registered to Heaven Inc.

It does fit in.. but try not to blend it in the site too much.. People (like me) hate having to look for the navigation..
I think it's good.. Keep it up -------------------- |

Thanks for the suggestions.
I will space out the nav options. I don't like the idea of changing the bg color of the nav bar since it's a painful process, as if realigning the buttons isn't already. An alternative would be to put a 1px black stroke around the text. I'll dabble with making the rollover yellow a bit darker. Regarding changing the selected state, I thought the thick black stroke around the text was a little out of place, and I was looking for a different idea, but isn't a block behind the text a little old school looking? Maybe if I put some sort of graphic behind the text on the selected state. Regarding the footer, I really like the fade in fade out effect. I did have a 1px boarder around the main content but I felt it kind of boxed it in and took away from the light feel. That was in the very early stage of the site, so I'll have a look at it again. |

Maby your site needs more than just a border maby it needs a drop-shadow or glow effect.

Maby your site needs more than just a border maby it needs a drop-shadow or glow effect. I think that'd be a nice touch. I know there's several ways to accomplish this effect. Any recommendations? Also, I see what you're saying about the footer. On the main page, it doesn't work, but I like it on the others. This post has been edited by 902: Feb 20 2008, 02:29 PM |

I think your site needs a page title
I feel that your navigation is a little bland. The background gradient is a bit 'wishy washy', when I hover over a button the text changes to a color which can only be described as pale yellow. If the site was mine I would switch out the background for something with a bit more screen presence. Probably dark blue. I would also change the background as the mouse hovers over a link. So far as spacing goes it's alright. I think it is ever so slightly left aligned. A few pixels padding on the left of the navigation element would fix this. -------------------- |

Can you clarify? I have a title page. Click the logo. There are no actual titles on the pages yet, however, that will come.
I do see the slight left align, and I'm gonna have to fix that. I'll mess around with some more styles, dark blue bg grad, something behind the text for hover, and have just the color change for selected. I was wanting to try out a rounded edge at the top of the nav, but it didn't work out the first time, so I said I'd do it another time on another site. Thanks again for the input. Also, I found the main image kinda grainy and overcast. I'm gonna find a better image for the main page. |

Did you thought about separating them with a vertical?
But then you have to make them an image based menu... with all the hover things -------------------- |

I updated the navigation and boy does it make a difference. Nice dark blue, with rounded edges. Also made a hotdog shape hover, and hotdog with 1px stroke around the selected. ( this sounds way too dirty, lol )
Have a look. There's a big space between the nav and the main image, but I'm gonna post that problem in the css form. |

Nice navigation, I love it. The navigation is nice.
A suggestion, even tho the ellipse on overlay works, I'd make it a glow effect. I guess its preference tho. Your navigation on mouse hover makes the text harder to read, you should also change the color, mabey to a blue. I still dislike the footer except the one used in the home page. However, I'm starting to like it. Mabey if you made the footer image a bit bigger in height, it would look better. -------------------- We are sorry but complaint.hell is not registered to Heaven Inc.

Awesome!
I still have my comment on your bg image there where the feather effect is going on, and your footer too. It's just your page have too many feather effect. From your bg, your footer.. I think you should set a fixed color for your footer so your page main content will stand out! Like make the footer the same color as your top banner logo bg color (dark bluish purple). -------------------- |
