I personally don't see the point when there's Wikipedia. It's ALOT of work and most of it is just copy/pasting from the wiki anyways.
Maybe someone else will see it differently but that's how I view it.

So if someone writes CMS. It will appear as CMS. When you over over it a neat little box with "Content Management System" inside it appears.
This would make the forum more accessible to new users.

I like the idea of having a wiki where members can edit it... What do yous think on that?
I dont think it will work if only admins, etc.. Do you get my point?

I don't think it would be that hard, you just need the parse the content when it is on the way in to the database. If you have an array containing the abbreviations and meanings. You can compare words to abbriviations and where necesscary input some sort of javascript hover effect.

Here is an example....

Web designers look to W3C Standards to ensure that their sites meet current guidelines as to accessibility and coding syntax. The sites are then considered "valid", meaning that they have passed the W3C automated validation test. This process ensures that their sites will be able to be viewed by visitors using a variety of browsers, operating systems and devices.
The text would not be helpful to our SEO if it was just a copy and paste job. The text needs to be original content, and at least a few paragraphs. I believe it would be a good idea if we required a staff member to approve all entires before they were public.
This all sound good?

Would it be possible for
members to edit, (with a post limit)
staff can see changes and can approve them, (rather than a certain one or two staff members, how about all staff can approve any glossary submissions that are made, would be easier)
public can view glossary

When you say links, is there a chance of them becoming rather obtrusive?

what i liked about this forum and websqueeze is that it didn't have links on every post. Don't lose it!

At some point in the future we may decide to add this into the forum, but at that time it would only be for guests. Members would not see the links by default, but would have to turn on an option in order to see them.
