Gimp is infuriating, after 30 minutes I was still struggling to make a simple gradient.

I have heard promising things about paint.net. I would start there for free applications.

Yeah, Gimp can be a bit hard to learn. I've also read good reviews about Paint.NET though I think it's mainly a photo editing software. Then there's a gimpshop which tries to replicate Photoshop gui on Gimp.

Yeah, to be honest I struggled with Gimp too, but I know lots of others have got on well with it, so I thought I'd mention it!

That's the biggest BS I've heard ever!
Gimp is useless and you offer to use photoshop?! As if you don't need to take your time to study Photoshop..

Sorry man, I can't agree with you on that one..

you can't compare photoshop and gimp to fireworks either, not differet planets, different solar systems

gimp isn't that difficult, and as daniel originally asked, it's free, whereas PS isn't

And I only want it to mess with images for my site cause I have an old Paintshop Pro which annoys me.

If you're talking images as in photo's, you should give Irfanview a try.. loads of options..

Did you guys tried Paint.net? Its a free image editing software...
But I still recommend PS for a wider range of capabilities...

Yes but it can also be used for images, and it has support for PSDs which is useful wink.gif
