Hi , I have had the Occommerce shop installed. http://www.capoeiracanal.co.uk/shop

Today I am getting 'Network Timeout' message. I am also getting Ftp error message 'can not make the connection to the host. The server web-02.skynet.lv is not responding'

Is this to do with my server or can something I have done whilst editing the PHP files be causing this?

It's taking a while for my server to get back to my email asking if there is something up at there end so wanted to ask here.

Thanks

Internal Errors usually mean that there is soemthing wrong with the server or the server configuration. It is also a really unhelpful error as it tells you nothing about what is wrong. The FTP error is also a little ominous. Contact your webhost and ask them what is up.

Bit offtopic, but your logo seems to be out of place.
Didn't get an error either.

Hi Jacob.R, those sorts of errors, especially when happening both via HTTP and FTP, usually indicate an issue with your web server. Assuming you're on a shared server, it's possible part of the reason your host was slow getting back to you is that they had a number of people all emailing asking what's wrong! And they were probably trying to fix it. Good news is, looks like it's fixed! smile.gif

Thank you for pointing this out. I am still struggling with the basic layout. I usually build to FF3, once done, I then test in IE and start the process of trouble shooting. Is this a good procedure?

what browser are you using?

Hi

Yes, and it was Sunday.

I have been advised to do a "Tracert" on another forum and it seems that starting a fresh osCommerce install of a UK targeted website on a server in Latvia (Skynet.lv) would be a bad thing?

This sounds like you may not have waited long enough after pointing your domain at your name servers. It can take up to 48 hours for the domain propagation to complete. This is completely normal when setting up a new domain name, or pointing a domain name at a new hosting server.

Though it's difficult to determine if this is exactly what happened or not (obviously you will know already probably smile.gif) from here... if it did, possibly one of your servers has a date set to 2006? Or... it was very coincidental timing! wink.gif

Well, in that case, I see no reason why geography would come into the equation...

Possibly just odd timing with the server having issues? I guess it's fixed now though smile.gif
