I know this an old post, but I found it pretty interesting. I found it somewhat funny that someone actually (well - maybe actually) thought that google was government funded - HA! The only way a company can get so much done so well and so quickly is if they're private sector. Government employees (for the most part - don't crucify me here) don't work nearly as fast or as hard as private sector simply because they don't have to. That's like saying Microsoft is run in India. (Ok - bad example - most of the people you talk to at Microsoft probably are from India). Anyway, there's my 2 cents on that.
