Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone knows of software (free/open source) for source control. It is to basically control/keep back-ups of latest versions of code. I need to be able to "Check in" and "Check out" code. Also, to be able to add comments when checking in. An added extra would be user log-in/out. -------------------- Finally squeeezin!!!!

Subversion would be your best bet. It is basically the standard for source control on major open source projects (Django, cakePHP etc..)
You can combine it with other open source tools like trac (project and collaboration software) and you're on a winner for sure. -------------------- |

Thanks for that Rakuli,
I downloaded TortoiseSVN, which I got off subversion.tigris.org. Subversion would be your best bet. It is basically the standard for source control on major open source projects (Django, cakePHP etc..) You can combine it with other open source tools like trac (project and collaboration software) and you're on a winner for sure. My next question, how do I combine with the other pieces of software?? -------------------- Finally squeeezin!!!!

Well, when you are setting up a Trac install, you can nominate a url for the SVN repository that is attached to the project.

Does this help? http://lifehacker.com/software/subversion/...esvn-192367.php Lifehacker has some other tortoisesvn articles as well. Thanks Antti. I had a look at this article, and it goes into the basics very well. It also tells you how to do a basic set-up of subversion. I was getting very bogged down trying to set it up with apache, but hopefully these articles will help, as you can set it up without apache -------------------- Finally squeeezin!!!!
