I'm doing a website for a parish, and they wanted a simple design with "some" christian symbols in it. They gave me the colors "wheat", blue and green to work with, but the green didn't really fit in (I think).

Tell me what you think of this design:

Well... it's "simple" alright biggrin.gif

I think it needs more work ... It's too bland. It doesn't look inviting. People need to see that going to this church is not a drag ... see these below wink.gif

With your design skills I know you can do better wink.gif

Ummmmm... nah...sorry Mark, it's just not right.

The church name is not pretty or standing out enough, the cross should be ornate.
The navigation is just dull.

I'm not liking the contact info box either. Sorry.... but I think this is a "do-over"!

I was kinda afraid of that. I wasn't happy with it myself either. I sent it to my client as well, and she said it was "ok".. so I take it they're just being kind smile.gif

Back to the drawing board I guess..

What you have is kinda boring.

Don't treat it like a church website. Give it rounded corners, treat it to the web 2.0 look. The only way you can mess this project up is by doing what you have done and gone for a simple design. I have been told that the client knows best, in this case I would say that they don't. Drop the 'wheat' color, add a green which matches the blue. Create something special. Just stick with usability and readability.

There will be older peopel using the site. This may include those without great sight so a 'text bigger' button might be good.

Client replied. The design is a go ahead.. I'll probably be posting a "CSS doesn't work in IE6"-topic pretty soon tongue.gif

Second one looks fab. smile.gif

From the first one: accessing the navigation suggests an act of grave-robbing. biggrin.gif
