I am creating a gaming website with a friend. The problem being that in my opinion my friends taste in websites is... different to mine.

He has uploaded this theme. In my opinion its dark, depressing and lifeless. A worry that someone may actually commit suicide after spending some time on this website. My friend loves it! *sigh*

I created what is attached. Its not perfect but its getting there.

Now please. Honestly. Am I crazy or is my design better?

I actually like both, your friend's one looks quite slick but seems to be missing a header, if it has a header with some colour in it I think it'll look good. Your one is good because you've used army colours which ties in with warrior name. I think either could work.

I feel you. Friends with opinions are the worst smile.gif I actually like your design more. The other is a bit lifeless and could use at least a bit something more...

Hi Jason,

I have to agree with you. I think your friends page is very dark, and not very apeling. In my opinion, the darkness is a big put off. Your site is much easier on the eye, as the colours bring out the site more.

Jason, I like yours better too.
It's more original, clean and balanced!

I don't like the gray announcement headers on his.

I can't really say I'm a fan of either sad.gif At least yours has some green in it but they both remind me of the clan sites that people set up for World of Warcraft and the like. Either way though, if the game is good enough, people will play. As the great Mike Hopley says "People don't give a S@#t about the design if there is some decent content to play around with" <-- not a direct quote biggrin.gif

I don't get what the game is so I'm not sure whether either theme meets the target audience expectations.

Yeah, the site is for a gaming clan.

I personally agree with you. Your friends website does not have any colour and your design is much more pleasing to the eye. But maybe the gaming clan is a group of people that don't like colours too much and would really like a dark and depressing website. In the end, a clan website has to appeal only to a very special group of people. If that is the case then your friends design could be improved along those lines. But it will certainly need some improvement.

Thanks for the response's guys. I just needed to make sure that my design was in fact all right and that I wasn't missing something glaringly obvious
