I have a container Flash movie that loads in other swf files. Some of these have videos, sounds etc loaded in different ways from simply embedded to sound objects etc.

However what I need to add to the "holder" movie is a mute button that works across the board - ie it just puts the volume to 0, but doesn't stop anything. I will also of course need "unmute" capability.

I can't find anything helpful online. stopAllSounds doesn't work, and I can't use setVolume as it's not for specific objects. Surely there must just be a "global" volume functionality?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Well it the sounds are actually attached to objects you can just set the function to adjust each objects sound and vice versa...

I've never done this, but it may work - instead of attaching something to an object like holder.setVolume.....

You can use stage.setVolume - which accesses the object "stage" which happens to be your entire flash application.

I've never tested this, but it is worth a shot if you are still struggling with this...
