It sounds like a great idea. While it won't be exactly like real life it will give you an in sight into what it is like to work for other people. Good luck with it.

yup.. I went easy on him smile.gif

If I was a real client, the first info I'd give him: "I want to know what it costs" smile.gif

For all of you people that are waiting on my "pretend" site, I had to postpone this educational project due to an increase in clients. But as soon as I get my clients taken care of I will again come back to this.

Bruno sounds eager to distribute his idea. Perhaps he will drop you a project to work on.

When I low on clients I work on my own projects. When I work for clients I have to make what they want. Even if it doesn't completely showcase what I can do. By developing my own sites on the site I can really show new clients the depth of my knowledge and skills. Thats what I am doing at the moment smile.gif

Gotcha! Well... you'll be happy to know that we have a new project for this type of stuff in the works! biggrin.gif More will be revealed soon wink.gif

In the meantime, like Jason said, just make up something. A fake company or blog or project and design something for it?!

If you are looking for project ideas why not have something like this.

For Programming.

I run a local news paper shop and am looking to bring my deliveries online. Users should be able to sign up, select the paper they want to be delivered and the days of the week that they want it. They should be able to suspend delivery online. Before a paper is delivered I should be able to authenticate these users via some sort of administration panel.

In this administration panel I should be able to add papers and manage members.

Thats pretty simple. If you want to complicate it you could try to add some accounting. Assume the papers have been delivered and work out how much the customer owes. Bear in mind that you would have to have a system which would allow for users suspending papers for holidays etc.

The advantage of creating system is that it has real world uses. You could release it has open source or sell it. You could even go to your newsagents and offer to build them a website with this system included for free.

If you are more into Design

I run a florists and am looking for a modern website which will highlight and showcase the fabulous flowers that I sell. I require a home page, about page and contact page to be designed. The color scheme should be unobtrusive and allow the flowers to speak to themselves. I do not want a floral background.

Thanks Jason and Karinne,

Great input Jason. The first suggestion is using PHP? If so I am only in the early stages of learning that. The second suggestion is something that I could have a go at.

Looking forward to the new project Karinne. Will this be based at different levels, i.e. basic, intermediate and advanced??

Actually this is a great idea. Can't wait to see what you can come up with Karinne. It's always nice to have more ideas what to do.
