On all the Web Design / Development sites I have visited, I have noticed that they never seem to have dedicated areas for forum software (vBulletin / phpBB / IPB / Vanilla / SMF etc). Is there any chance we could get a section for problem solving on forum issues? As they wouldn't always come under normal web design / development issues.

Cheers,

Ross

Woo! Cheers! I know I have said it a million times already but I will say it again, excellent job on this place! The whole design gives it a much more relaxed and approachable feel to the forum biggrin.gif Great work.

That's what I feel too. One thing that I must say about Webforumz is it was a great place but the design/layout was too cramped.

Hmmm ... Wouldn't this fall into the "Blogging & Social Networking" section?

Usually I go to the supportforums of (in my case) SMF if I have a problem, but it might work here as a backup.. If the people on "the official forums" are not so coorporative..

People here could also give a more honest reply, whether forum A is down a lot of the time, or the support at forum B is s**t, think it would be a good idea, bring a lot of useful experience smile.gif

Yeah, I've found that... A prime example is of vBulletin and IPB. If you go on the vBulletin site, on the most part you will get a "IPB is crap, use vBulletin instead..... [some examples here]" and vice-versa on the IPB forum.

Yeah I find that on the official forums you get the "cliques" where they will insult or just be down right rude to people for not knowing something and I feel people will feel more comfortable asking questions here.

and isn't that what this forum is about really, giving the best unbiased advice, of course you could always visit the "horses mouth", but would you go out and purchase vista just because bill gates said it was "cool".

Web design/development is more than just languages and images, things such as hosting and forums etc also count a lot, having a place to get great independent advice from users i think is a great idea.

Sorry but wouldn't it make sense to put the CMS forum in the programming section.. not the design section.
Makes sense to me wink.gif

Actually its a hybrid of both. Design and programming are both fundamental to a CMS.
