guys/gals,

Wow - a 1st and I'm honored.

About guided layers and motion. This is such a fussy area which requires specific sequences to make it work properly, but I think it's worth discussing.

When using a movie clip/symbol along a guided path - I find it frustrating when trying to modify the path that the snap feature sometimes seems to get disabled. I know that you have to define or redefine the tween on the first keyframe and move the object on that and the last keyframe as well. So when you change/modify the path, do you need a keyframe on the guided layer matching the endpoint of the objects layer. I've read that you only need the 1st keyframe on the guided layer but this may have been bad info in the book I'm reading about it.

I'm just looking for someone with any tips or know any features that make this more logical or easier for me to grasp.

Thanks in advance,

Stu

Hey Stu,
I'm not a huge flash user but here are a couple sites that have good solid flash information and tutorials.

The first: http://www.educationonlineforcomputers.com...s.php?print=471 - this one has a lot of links for flash tutorials.

The second: http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/tutorial...eening.php3 - this is a tutorial on motion tweening.

Hope this can at least get you going in the right direction.

Hi Stu,

No, you don't need keyframes along the guide layer timeline. Remember that the guide layer is just a reference for the path you want the movie clip to follow. The problem is on your movie clip timeline. Your movie clip will follow the guide so long as it's not too far from the guide (in which case it will detach). What you can do is check the keyframes on the movie clip timeline and make sure that at those keyframes your movie clip is attached to the guide. Your motion tweening will take care of the rest.

Hopefully this helped...Let me know if you have any other questions!
Rich
