Heya

I've been using Cute FTP Pro for what seems like an eternity now. However, I'm starting having problems with files saying they've been over-written, but the old ones still show up on the web. Cache cleared, temp internet files deleted etc. - the usual stuff, but still no joy for some pages. I've contacted Globalscape's forum, but no-one's replied yet.

Can anyone recommend a different client until they get back to me with an answer? Or even suggest which settings I could tweak? I do have it on 'Prompt' when it overwrites - just in case I do try to upload an incorrect file!

Cheers in advance

I use SmartFTP, a very powerful FTP-program. The feature I like most is that it supports multiple thread uploading, which means uploading multiple files at the time, which is great if you're uploading a whole bunch of smaller files..

I've used WinSCP for ages. Never found a reason to change it.

I use cyberduck. I used to use filezilla but it kept disconnecting from my web server when I navigated in and out of a couple of folders.

I use FileZilla but I used SmartFTP before. I don't even know why I changed.
I will certainly try FireFTP.

Hi Guys,

I think I've tried just about every FTP client out there and the only one I'm happy with (aside from DreamWeaver's built-in client) is WS FTP

I use FlashFXP. I find it really comfortable to work with and i think it has nice hotkeys as well, which are (to me) very logical.

Also i tried SmartFTP after Mark suggested it. I find myself using it sometimes when i need to upload a lot of small files (because of the reason Mark's mentioned - multiple sessions), but i think it lacks intuitive behaviour. I still love FlashFXP.

Oh, and i use NetDrive to connect to ftp as well when i am coding. It sort of makes it look like a network connection, so i can use windows explorer to navigate through my ftp sites. That doesn't run spotless though.

I don't like FileZilla that much, because i think it can't handle massive upload/downloads very well. I think it "forgets" to transfer some data sometimes.

Filezilla all the way! never had a reason to change. It has a site manager and you can add multiple files to the que and you can process them all at the same time instead of single handly dragging and dropping.

Cyberduck and Coda.

Cyberduck may have a silly name but..

it is free (Help's keep the money in your pocket)
Damn easy to use (I have never refered to the documents once. Intuative to add servers, so easy to do any ftp task)
I have never had a problem with it (Never been disconnected from a server, never had any problems at all)

Hehe, if that is a sole criteria for a ftp client, it would be a long result list. Seriously, are there still ftp clients that require you to manually drag and drop files, instead of using a decent queue? Same goes for site manager. smile.gif
