This is actually a good question. I own and operate a small business web design company in Arizona. All to often I talk to clients that don't realize the difference between web design and web development.

I quote them a fair price for designing their web site which makes them happy until they realize they have to provide the content for their site.

Many people don't realize that a web designer is paid to design a space on the internet for the clients existing content (information).

A web developer is paid to both come up with the content and then design a space for it on the internet.

The two big differences between web design and web development... Time and Money!

I'm trying to be a bit of both, but if anyone has seen my graphic attempts, then you will agree my developing skills are...shall we say less worse..than my designing skills wink.gif

I suck at design. Everything I design is very flat and I think it looks good until the designer gets ahold of it and makes it look absolutely wonderful with gradients and shadows and all that designer-y stuff.

I can take any psd though and make it into a beautiful website.

For the web, I think a little of both, very little at present

in my present work as a consultant for voice and data networks I would have to say both. I design the network and tell them what to buy and put it together. big fun!!

I thought you were into flash more than anything?

I'm a developer, C#, PHP, ASP, JS. The .NET stuff is LOVELY.

I used to be obsessed with PHP but now it's too easy, so I do a lot of C# desktop programming.
