I have an assignment to make a mock website using only html and css. We started the concepts a few weeks ago and I'm about halfway done with the scripting for each of the pages. It's not done by any means, the only pages that have content in them are the Home, Mountain, Ski School, and Family pages.

Anyone have any suggestions? Particularly on the logo.

Hmmm, you using IE? I don't have any kind of problem with the middle column on Firefox or Safari. I just got a new mac at home and still need to download it.

Edit: Ew I just realized how the right side of the page is actin up...didn't notice on the little screens at school dry.gif

Hey James...
Nice site so far! Woo hoo

For the logo you want it to be simple, easily reproduced and memorable. So even though I get where you are going with the logo, the wispy look won't really reproduce well.

The definition for aurora is:
QUOTE
A luminous atmospheric phenomenon appearing as streamers or bands of light sometimes visible in the night sky in northern or southern regions of the earth.

I'd try to work in some bands of light. So maybe some type of shape such as sun rays in a half moon shape. I don't know if that's very original but I'm hoping I can give you an idea that might be useful!

Hi James,

Looking good! My suggestions...

I would move the main navigation just above the ski picture. Also, if this is the main page then I would leave the logo, but I would move it to the top-left of the layout for the sectional pages. (Both suggestions are for usability purposes) I would also move the Site Map link to the bottom of the page next to the ©... © on the left, site map on the right.

The text is overflowing for me as well - FF & Win. It has to do with the rigid layout you're using, which is fine... you're trying to keep the layout consistent. For the news div just add overflow:hidden and it should do the trick. You'll have to pay more attention to the amount of content that goes in there but at least your layout won't look 'broken' if you have too much text there by chance.

Keep up the good work!
Rich

Check out the Meyer reset...

http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2007/05/01/reset-reloaded/

It's basically a set of CSS that resets everything so all of your CSS styles work consistently across browsers and platforms, as much as possible anyways!

I love the layout and the colours that you've used too.

Hi

How about doing some work on the spacing?

I think the banner (though slightly large?) and top right corner links look pro. Bellow compared with the top seems slightly tight for space and uneasy on the eye.

Hope that's of help.
