Hi Flash Peeps!

Could you please take a look at this http://www.lakecrackenback.com.au/ .
I need to make a slide show like this. Anyone know of any tutorials that would walk me step by step through the process?
I have Flash 8!

Thanks in advance

Hey Linda,

How familiar are you with ActionScript? I will see if I can find a good tutorial for you or maybe just create one for you... I've had to make a couple in the past. If it's not something you want to devote a lot of time to learning then you can also look for pre-built slideshow scripts for Flash or even a piece of software that will build it for you.

I'm not familiar at all! I can make simple fade in and fade out flash slideshows but I know my client is going to want this type now that she's seen it... I did a search and found a few prebuilt programs but they cost money. I hate to spend money for one slideshow. But time is money too right?

I'd love a freebie...but wouldn't we all?

That's actually an easy flash picture show and can be done without action script in Flash 8 although I wouldn't recommend it. Using AS you can cut the file size by a huge amount.

What's happening is that there is a movie clip that is loading an image into it.

Then the buttons on the bottom have an onClick event that sets the movie clip to load the new photo. It starts off by setting the alpha of the MC to 0 then gradually upping it to 100. This is done with actionScript although you could just use a tween effect to do this.

Now if you need to resize each image then that is another thing. Do you want to allow the client to upload their own photo's and view them? etc...

Here is a tutorial on how to do this...it uses AS, but it is already built for you in the tutorial.

Edit, links help: http://www.kirupa.com/developer/mx2004/xml_slideshow.htm

Post here if you have any questions on how parts of it work!

Cheers,
Scott
