Ok, so I downloaded the new Adobe Photoshop CS3 and I really don't know much about it cept what I paid to get the thing was great cause I got to upgrade from Version 7.0 smile.gif which saves me like $500. Now I find that version 7.0 still launches but I no longer can create a new image (the pop-up never shows) nor can I use the Blending Options feature... Adobe's solution is to just use CS3... which yeah I guess I could, but I want to know why my 7.0 is messing up so badly. I know how to do everything in there and I was trying to figure out things based on the old version but I can't really because my old version is messed up. I don't have the old 7.0 CD anymore as I broke it several years ago. Anyone ever heard of this problem or know a possible solution?

Eh.. When I upgrade to a version, I use it..
What I do know is: DON'T try to re-install CS3. It's a b*tch.. I tried, and failed a few times until I got my new pc..

Well with that in mind can I uninstall version 7.0? Or do I have to leave it on since I "upgraded" it to CS3... Normally when you upgrade something isn't the old version supposed to go away completely? Man.. I bet it's a Window's bug or something... I'm just gonna try and delete 7.0

If I was you I would do a system restore to set your computer back to before you installed CS3. This should repair Photoshop 7.

When you install CS3 again you can confirm the install path to make sure it doesn't conflict with photoshop 7.

Due to the age of photoshop 7 I would doubt that there are any shared components between the two packages. The only thing I can think of is that you have installed it in the same directory or something has been installed in your photoshop 7 directory. Either way if you want to continue using the older version you will probably need to do a system restore.

I spent a year as a computer technician, after 'have you switched it off and on again?' More often than not, system restore is the quickest way to fix a computer problem.

The only problem I can see with the System restore is Re-Activating Photoshop.

Trying to re-activate it through the internet service might cause issues. I'd recommend using the "Activate via the telephone" thing so that you can explain to a real person what the situation is.
